Renee Kathleen Zellweger was born on
April 25, 1969, in Katy, Texas, Her mother Kjellfrid Irene (Andreassen), is a
nurse born in Norway, former and midwife of Norwegian, Kven (Finnish) as well
as Swedish descent. Emil Erich Zellweger, her father, is a Swiss-born engineer.
The couple got have been married since 1963. Renee is a sister to a brother
called Drew Zellweger, a marketing executive who was born on February 15 the
15th of February, 1967. Renee was part of the drama club at high school and
began to be fascinated by acting. In Austin, she also attended an acting course
and decided to pursue acting as a profession. She wanted to pursue acting
following graduation. However, Hollywood can be difficult to break into, which
is why Renee determined to stay in Texas and try out for roles around Houston.
In Houston, she got roles in films such as Reality Bites (1994), and Empire
Records (1995). Matthew McConaughey was another Hollywood newcomer she met
working on the set of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2: The Next Generation (1994).
McConaughey was working on a project at the time which Renee was intrigued by,
auditioned for, and won the part in the movie Love and a .45 (1994) and was a
huge success and earned her the praise of critics that she decided to relocate
to Los Angeles. A second role in The Whole Wide World (1996) was the next one,
which eventually led to her biggest break. Cameron Crowe was busy casting his
next film which was Jerry Maguire (1996),starring Tom Cruise. Crowe was
watching actresses such as Bridget Fonda and Marisa Tomei when the performance
of Zellweger on The Whole Wide World (1996). He had a chance to audition
Zellweger and was convinced he'd discovered his Dorothy Boyd. Renee continued
her success by releasing a couple of independent films and after receiving
further critical praise and confidence, she decided to reenter the realm of
large-budget Hollywood films. Meryl Streep played her in One True Thing (1998).
She also took a role in Me, Myself & Irene (2000) and starred opposite
Jim Carrey, and soon after that, she started dating Jim Carrey. In the role of
the title character in Bridget Jones's Diary (2001).
