Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was TV personality and former chef in the Institute of Culinary Education and she was formerly an instructor of cooking. She hosts Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network and the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Ann Burrell's Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant chef is a hit with her signature sparkling blonde locks, and her bubbly up personality, reveals basic techniques anyone can learn. Chef Burrell has worked in various top eateries that are located in New York, studied the food culture and culinary traditions of Italy, and battled on the Food Network's Iron Chef America. As a child in Upstate New York Chef Burrell was inspired by food. She pursued her passion for working in the restaurant business by enrolling at The Culinary Institute of America after earning a degree in English and Communications from Canisius College, Buffalo NY. According to her "I enjoyed being a Culinary Institute Of America student. I loved every minute of it." It was impossible to learn about, practice or do all the things I did. Chef Burrell following her graduation from The Culinary Institute for Foreigners in Italy completed a one-year stint in Umbria in Umbria at La Taverna del Lupo and Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, a Michelin-starred restaurant. The time she spent in Italy has helped her understand and appreciate the Italian tradition and philosophy, which has had an impact on her food and culinary experience. Burrell served as a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board to improve children's lives who are facing difficulties. Additionally, she is an Juvenile Research Foundation Celebrity Ambassador who promotes an awareness campaign on juvenile diabetes. In her role as a speaker, Burrell makes trips across the country to talk about her love of food as well as her career in the culinary field. Anne said she felt lucky in that she could be able to share her passion for cooking with many others.
